SPHERE
This installation is a representation of a sound piece that was broadcasted on the radio. Different well known dutch people have spent some time on a island away from society. They all spoke about the isolation and how they experienced it. Bases on this I made a sphere, 1,5 m high and wide, that as soon as you stand in it gives the feeling of a isolated space. The pattern on the inside should not feel pleasant, as is how the island people where feeling. With this I also designed a book spread about the same topic.
2001:A SPACE ODYSSEY
This poster is part of a serie of three. It was made based on the movie 2001:A Space Odyssey. For the poster I looked at the different chapters in the movie and made a collage composition.
MY DEAR FRIENDS
Everybody is monitored on the internet. They know who you are, where you are and where you will be tomorrow. As a metaphor for this digital society we live in, where nothing is private, I made two books. Both in which the content is shown by Google’s predictive ability. One shows the sentence: Tell me with whom you associate and I will tell you who you are. The other is part of an article by Julian Assange on Mega Powers such as Google.
THE WORLD ACCORDING TO THE NEWS
What would the world look like if we would believe and watch only the news? For the student competition of Chaumont with this years subject of 'Unmapping the World', me, Christina Yaroshevich and Rafael Henneberke created 6 boxes. Each box shows the world according to the news. We choose the six countries with the biggest population per continent. For the data we scraped the most read Twitter news account per country.
MIJN OUDERS ZEIDEN
This project is about the impact words can have on a person. When I was a child my parents ones told me I was found behind the garbage with a quarter in my hand. I always reminded this. So i placed them on my body as a tattoo for the text to wear of in time. I also made a video in combination with the picture.
HOLD A JELLY, TOUCH A JELLY
For this installation it is important to co-operate. Six persons are needed to make all the possible sounds. Together you can make a sound composition. It was build to promote co-operation within the different departments in our school.
LIQUID FOUNDATION
Experimental calligraphy based on pictures. The series of works are inspired on the sea and sea animals.
KLOKBOEKEN
Our entire society is build upon time. So if there is no more power or internet we made a clock that changes by people that replace the nummers. From this installation we made 25 books. One for every hour containing all minutes of a day. This project was made together with Joany Scheeve and Veerle Hoefnagels.
ACCESSIBLE
As a representation of accessible and inaccessible places in The Hague we made a book and an intervention in the public space around het Vredespaleis. On the ground we sprayed Dingbats symbolizing if the place was accessible or inaccessible.
WORLD WITHIN A WORLD
Started from a picture of a Chinese man holding up his hand me and Christina Yaroshevich made a book. It shows different intermediate states. The movie is the second part of this project where we show the same contrast. The theme of the movie is movement and this was show in a meditation room that we build.
PEOPLE IN SPACES
In this installation I represented the relation between people. For this I used the counter space printed with different techniques.
